Course modules: 10
Module 1
Visual Foundations & Sketching
This module introduces the fundamentals of sketching to develop observation skills, visual thinking, and creative ideation. Students learn freehand drawing, understanding of shape and form, spatial relationships, and perspective studies. The module also introduces visual storytelling through sketches and rapid ideation techniques to help students translate ideas quickly into visual form.
Studio practice includes daily sketch exercises, environment sketching, and building an object sketch library to strengthen drawing confidence. By the end of the module, students develop strong sketching skills for concept development and visualization.
Module 2
Design Principles & Composition
This module introduces students to the fundamentals of visual design and composition, helping them understand how different visual elements work together to create clear and engaging designs. Through observation, analysis, and creative exercises, students explore how visuals can guide attention, convey ideas, and enhance storytelling.
Studio activities focus on experimenting with compositions and studying visual examples. By the end of the module, students learn to organize visual elements and create balanced, effective designs.
Module 3
Color Theory & Visual Aesthetics
This module introduces students to color as an important element in visual design and storytelling. Students explore how colors interact, influence mood, and shape the overall feel of a visual composition. Through observation and creative exercises, they learn how color choices affect atmosphere and visual perception.
Studio activities include creating color palettes, studying examples from films and visual media, and applying color to compositions and environment studies.
Module 4
Introduction to Digital Graphics
In this module, students learn digital design workflows using professional software. They explore how digital tools are used to create and refine visual ideas, practice basic image editing techniques, and experiment with digital painting and visual compositions. The module also introduces how modern tools, including AI assisted features, can support the creative process and help visualize concepts more efficiently. Studio activities include digital painting practice, image manipulation exercises, and environment paintovers based on photographic references.
Module 5
Concept Design & Visual Development
This module introduces the process of visualising ideas before they are developed into 3D work. Students learn how artists research themes, build references, and explore creative directions through sketches and digital tools. The module focuses on developing visual ideas for environments, props, and basic character concepts. Students are also introduced to AI-powered tools that help generate references and support the creative exploration process.
Studio activities include creating mood boards, concept sheets, and visual research boards that can later be translated into 3D models.
Module 6
Introduction to 3D & Production Workflow
This module introduces students to the fundamentals of working in a 3D environment and understanding the basic production workflow. Students become familiar with the 3D software interface and learn essential concepts such as navigation, transforms, primitives, and scene organization. The module also introduces the basics of polygon modeling and how simple forms are used to construct more complex objects. Students learn how 3D assets move through different stages of production including modeling, texturing, lighting, and rendering.
Studio activities include creating simple 3D objects, practicing basic modeling exercises, and exploring how scenes are organized within a 3D workspace.
Module 7
3D Modeling & Environment Creation
In this module, students develop practical 3D modeling skills using industry-standard tools and learn how individual assets come together to build complete environments. Students explore modeling techniques to create structured objects/models. Module also cover environment building workflows where assets are organized and assembled to create cohesive 3D spaces.
Studio activities include modeling props and environment assets and combining them into a complete scene. By the end of the module, students gain confidence in creating detailed 3D models and constructing structured environments for visualization and production.
Module 8
Materials, Texturing & Lighting
This module focuses on bringing 3D models to life through materials, textures, and lighting. Students learn how surfaces, materials, and light interact to create realism and mood in a scene. The module explores the process of applying textures, experimenting with lighting setups, and understanding how camera composition enhances the final visual output.
Studio activities include material studies, lighting experiments, and creating rendered scenes for product-style visualization. By the end of the module, students develop the ability to present 3D models effectively through thoughtful use of materials, lighting, and rendering.
Module 9
Real-Time Visualization & Motion Presentation
This module focuses on presenting 3D work through real-time visualization and motion-based storytelling. Students learn how to import 3D assets into real-time environments, apply materials, set up lighting, and create cinematic compositions. Students explore how motion, camera movement, and editing can help communicate design ideas more effectively. Studio activities include creating short cinematic scenes, experimenting with real-time environments, and producing motion-based visual outputs for project presentation.
Module 10
Rendering & Portfolio Development
This module focuses on presenting 3D work professionally through rendering, lighting, and visual storytelling. Students learn how to refine their scenes, frame shots effectively, and enhance renders using basic post-production techniques. The module also guides students in organizing and presenting their work as a professional portfolio suitable for online platforms and creative showcases.
